This file covers four unique types of non-magical enhancements and alternate rules that can be used to improve your medieval armor:

• Gemstone Plating

• Hell Forged

Gemstone Plating: Several metals, including iron, can be plated with a thin layer of gemstone dust, causing the metal to shimmer. Furthermore, some gemstones, such as rubies and diamonds, are harder than steel and impart a considerable bonus to armor that is plated with them. This first section outlines the costs and effects of plating your armor with emeralds, rubies, topaz, sapphire or diamonds.

Hell Forged: Although not necessarily crafted on a lower plane, this metal is forged with the aid of magic. Transmuted ores are worked with magically enhanced blast furnaces that reach hellish temperatures. The result is a high tension, pure grade steel that has an astounding hardness and resistance...

Reinforced: Reinforced armors are constructed with several heavy, overlapping layers of redundant armor. Reinforced suits of plate mail are extremely cumbersome and often make the wearer appear much larger than he actually is. This section outlines the costs and effects of wearing extra-heavy armor of all kinds.

Piece Mail: What if you don't have a full suit of armor? What if all you can find is few odd pieces on the bugbears you just killed? A thick iron belt, an epaulet and bracer, and a gorget; they should offer some protection, but how much? And would they still work if you put on a suit of leather armor?   This section incorporates established OGL rules to account for mismatched and partial suits of armor in a simple and useful system
